Heat Treatment for ASTM A537 Class 3 Plates
A537 Class 3 plates shall be quenched and tempered. The tempering temperature for Class 2 plates shall not be less than 1100°F [595°C] and not less than 1150°F [620°C] for Class 3 plates.
ASTM A537 Class 3 plate material is used in a variety of applications including pressurised tanks and heat exchangers. A537 Class 3 steel shall be killed and undergo normalization, quenching and tempering. A537 Class 3 Pressure Vessel Plates is mainly used for manufacture in the oil and gas and petrochemical industries. A537 cl3 steel platessupplied in the normalised condition and the specification covers plates up to 100 mm (4 inches) in thickness.
